Take two...Seward

fjordstrip.jpg

Going back to Seward from Portage sounded a little crazy but it turned out to be a really good thing.  We had been to Seward on the 18th and took the Fjords tour but it was cut short because of the high seas.  Major Marine Tours gave us part of our money back and said we could have a rain check and take the trip at another time.  The rain check was for the 8 hours tour and was no additional cost except for food.  Of course, we had to take standby.  When we settled into Seward Skip went down and checked on the availabiltiy.  The next morning we went down at 10:30 and were able to get on the tour.  It was an absolutely beautiful day....SUN!!!  It was the first day of sunny skies in 27 days according to the boat captain.  We saw a lot of wildlife...bears, eagles, puffins, whales, sea lions and porpoise.   We saw a humpback whale jump out of the sea.  The greatest thing for us was seeing the glacier calving and hearing the sounds of the glacier.  As it moves it sounds like thunder.  This is certainly one of the most awesome things we have ever experienced.  It was just a perfect day.  Not many words for you but lots of pictures.
