TUMBLEWEED III TRAVELS

March 2008

Back on track...

February came and went so fast.  Sue had a sudden trip to Illinois when her brother, John was put in a nursing home.  She was there 9 days when he passed away.  He lost his long courageous battle with cancer.  He will be missed by many.

While in Illinois the weather was bitter cold.  The day of the funeral it was -3 with a wind chill of -20.  The decision was made not to go to the cemetery because it had snowed the night before and there was ice below the snow.  That makes for very dangerous conditions.

I also attended the 50th Wedding Anniversay of our friends, Dick and Barb.  They are the parents of our son-in-law, Doug.

The day before I was scheduled to leave it began to snow.  That heavy wet snow and there was a prediction of 8 inches.  I called and changed my flight and was able to fly out that night.  I arrived home around 3 a.m.  The next day the temperature was near 70 degrees.  What a contrast!

Suddenly, I was in springtime instead of winter!  The trees in CA were all in bloom.  Seeing all of the blossoms on the trees is a beautiful sight.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO BRETT!!   She celebrated her Birthday while I was gone.  We have since gone out to lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and then did a little shopping.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MARISA!!  She and Mark celebrated her Birthday at the Cheesecake Factory and then went bowling.

We have a new member in our family.  Her name is "Alice" and she arrived last week!  Actually, she is our new Garmin GPS.  Skip named her after she kept talking back to him when he took a turn she didn't authorize.

The Grandkids have started their competition schedules.  Paige is dancing and Ryne, Brandon and Jessica are swimming.  Brett is playing soccer and Kennedy is competing in academic bowls.

Skip is keeping busy at the lodge and I'm trying to catalog old pictures on the computer.

I took a couple pictures while I was in Illinois and here is one of them:
