Didn't get a chance to update the website the end of June, so I'll add the info in here. We celebrated our 44th
Wedding Anniversary quietly at home on June 29th.
Julie and family went to Orlando, Florida for a couple weeks. Paige was in a dance competition. They toured
the Kennedy Space Center which Kennedy found fascinating that they named a whole center after her. Julie had been there
with us when she was a child so it was interesting for her to see how it had changed and grown. Brett did not go
with them since she went to a soccer camp for ODP (Olympic Development Program) in Moscow, Idaho. We picked her
up at the Oakland Airport on the 30th.
Julie and family returned from Florida on the 1st. They had a good time BUT hated the humidity!!! Julie and
Paige had one week home before heading to New York.
We had a BBQ at Julie's on the 4th of July. Wade cooked ribs. We watched fireworks and called it a day.

7/7/7 was our departure day for New York...Julie, Paige and Sue that is! As usual, I was up early but that day
was a little earlier than usual...4:30 a.m. Something that will haunt me for the next couple days. Our flight
was scheduled to leave NY at 10 p.m. but as happens a lot it was delayed. We left at 10:45 arriving in Atlanta, GA at
6:30 a.m. where we caught a connecting flight to Newark, New Jersey at 7. We arrived in NJ at 9 and to our hotel at
10 a.m. None of us slept on the plane! With the time change this means I have been up 24 1/2 hours so far.
This was our first experience with a NY cabbie. Actually, it was the Super Shuttle Driver. He should be driving
race cars some where. Always swerving in and out and barely missing people. The brakes made a terrible noise and
the shocks were gone! Our first NY experience.
We weren't able to check into our room until 3 p.m., so we decided to get something to eat and walk around. First
meal in NY was at McDonald's a couple blocks away! We were so tired and it was fine with all of us. After one
hour, we returned to the hotel (Broadway and 74th) and sat in the lobby. Paige took a nap on one of the sofa's but Julie
and I stayed awake. Around 2:30 they finally said our suite was ready. Once we entered the room Julie returned
down to the front desk and told the staff the room was not acceptable. When you opened the bathroom door it hit the
front of the toilet; wallpaper was coming down; ref. was a small bar one; carpet coming up; mold in tub; etc. They gave
her a pass key and some room numbers to check out the rooms. She selected a suite that overlooked Broadway. Larger
bath and kitchen and clean!!! Finally, we were settled into our room. Paige hit the bed and we went across the
street to get milk, bread, Pepsi, fruit, etc. Then we walked down to 63rd to buy us some pillows that would be comfy
for the next 2 weeks. By this time, we decided not to try to get any sleep or we would be up at 1 am and we would really
be messed up. Once Paige got up and showered we decided to take a walk. I stopped to take a picture of a building
and the guy behind me was talking on his cell phone and walking. He stumbled and came within a foot of bumping into
me. Even walking traffic in NY is crazy. Oh, the person who almost ran into me was Bruce Willis. Cool huh!

We walked behind BW for a few blocks and then he went into a store...then he followed us for about 6 blocks until
we were able to lose him. We continued our walk past Julliard and then down to the Hudson River. We bought bratwurst
and burgers from a vendor in the park. It was enjoyable to sit on a bench and listen to the music and watch the boats
going up and down the river. From there we walked back to the hotel and very easily fell asleep. I had been up
for 38 hours!!!
