September 10th... When we arrived back home from Oregon the temps were in the 100's but it has now cooled
off nicely. Although that can change suddenly. Well, we are settled into our day to day living back home
in California. Skip is quite involved in the Elks lodge and I'm just managing to keep myself busy. We both donated
blood at the Elks annual blood drive and we will both be working a drive thru dinner this week. There is always
something to keep us busy. I attended the CSJ Retirement lunch/meeting last week. It was nice to see people
I haven't seen in years! My friends, Denise, Germaine, Amy and Sue were there and we tried to get caught up on what's
going on with all of us. Reminded me of the days we use to sit in the cafeteria at City Hall and talk and laugh!
We were able to get together with 3 of our children and their families for Labor Day. Chuck drove up from Phoenix and
enjoyed the cooler temperatures. Mark and Marisa couldn't get up here.
We have had some more unexpected expenses this year...the seal and wheel bearings, a new awning, a flat tire and
now a new water heater in the motorhome! Skip also spent $400 on preventative maintenance on the transmission.
Even though it can be expensive the preventative maintenance is the right thing to do. It would certainly cost
more if something happened out on the open road. It's just been one thing after another the last few months.
Over the weekend, Brett had 2 soccer games. One in Pleasanton and the other in Danville. I'm happy to say
they won both games. The weather was just perfect.
Sue's brother is experiencing some serious medical problems so please keep him in your prayers.
