Graduations and being home...

Being home is always fun but after a while we start talking about where we will head on our next adventure.  That's what we have been doing this month but we won't be going anywhere until late July.  Sue will be traveling to New York with Julie and Paige in July for two weeks.  Paige is attending a dance studio on Broadway for two weeks on a scholarship.  They are all looking forward to seeing a couple Broadway shows and all of the wonders of NY.  Julie had to go with her daughter but Busia (Grandma) Sue just had to tag along.

June 6th Jessica graduated from middle school.  There were 300 students in her class.  The day was perfect and it was really nice to be there.  June 7th Ryne graduated from high school.  There were 509 students in his class.  The day was also perfect...typical California weather!!  The following Saturday Shelly and Doug threw a party for them.  It was really nice to see all the people.

After the graduations, we decided to go to Monterey for a week or so.  Timing couldn't have been better.  Temps went into the triple digits inland but it was only in the mid 70's at the ocean.  Ryne, Brandon and Jessica swim on the Monterey swim club so-o-o-o they spent some time with us in the RV.  Their practice started at 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. and then again at 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.  It was interesting to have them with us.  We all learned a lot about each other in a close environment.  Let's just say we were happy to see them leave and they were happy to leave.  Of course, we would do it again!

Besides enjoying the cool weather in Monterey we enjoyed the beauty of the area.  We stayed at the Elks Lodge on top of a hill with a view of the bay and for only $15 per night!!!  The Del Monte Mall is located about a half mile from the lodge.  Sue spent a day there buying clothes at Chico's and another day with Jessica shopping and having lunch.  The atmosphere in Monterey is so relaxed and Sue just loved it.  We did our traditional trip to the wharf so Sue could take some pictures.  We watched a sea otter whose constant companion was a sea gull.  There also was a sea lion who swam around to entertain us.  We have included a few of the pictures that Sue took in Monterey...Monterey fish company, Monterey wharf, sea lion and the sea otter.   Skip went on a fishing trip and came home with his limit in cod.  We had a dinner of cod, rice and fresh tomatoes and fresh watermelon for dessert.  Now, it's back to Hollister to spend some time with the kids before we head back home to Tracy.
