TUMBLEWEED III TRAVELS

January 2009

As we begin another year...

15th...Ryne's Birthday

Here we are beginning another year.  We are praying that 2009 is a wonderful year for all of us.  It certainly a year that will go down in history books as we get a new president.  What a ride that campaign was!

We began our year with a trip to the Casino where Skip came home with an extra $20 and Sue came home with an extra $29.  A good way to start the year.

We had a wonderful New Year's day lunch with Julie and her family.  The girls have grown into beautiful young ladies.  We hope to see Shelly and her family this weekend.

January 27th... The month is almost gone but we haven't been just relaxing.  We were able to see Shelly and her family.  They came up one day and we went out for lunch.  The children have all grown into wonderful young adults.  Brandon just traveled to Illinois to tour a college.  They flew him in on Thursday and he was there until Saturday.  His dad went with him.  Doug was able to see his parents while Brandon was touring the college and showing the swim coach his swimming skills.

Brett was an alternate on a soccer team (Olympic Development) and went to a tournament in Phoenix.  She tried out for a team where all the girls are 16.  Brett is 14.  One of the girls on the team got hurt the night before they were going to leave so Brett was able to take her place.  Julie got the call at 10 p.m the evening before they were flying to Phoenix.  Julie & Sue took Brett to meet Wade that afternoon and he took her to the airport.  We then drove to Phoenix.  Since we got a late start we stopped for the night in Barstow.  Their first game was at 6 p.m. so we had plenty of time to get there.  Chuck met us for a late lunch and then we went to the game.  When that sun went down it got really cold...in the 40's.  Brett played all of the 2nd half.  They won that game.  Since she was an alternate and 2 years younger than the rest of the team we were very pleased she played. She played really good games.  She played 3/4 of the next 3 games.  They won 2 and lost 2.  We arrived in Phoenix on Saturday and left on Tuesday morning.
While in I was in Phoenix, Skip did some shopping and bought me a puppy.  He got him from a breeder in Nebraska.  The puppy flew from Omaha to Houston to San Francisco; arriving on Thursday (22nd).  The plane was over 1 1/2 hours late and Skip was like an expectant father.  Our puppy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and is just adorable.  He is full of lots of energy and keeps us alert!!  We named him Oliver.  Here is a picture of  Julie & Chuck and of course a couple of pictures of Oliver.  The pictures I took of Brett were pretty far away but I'll try to crop one and put it on another day.

Looks like another month went way too quickly.  We have worked at a crab feed dinner and bartended at a Elks district officers event.  We had our washer fixed and then the car broke down.  Go figure!!  We have become distributors for a fantastic cleaning supply company.  It's called Merry Moppins. Check out the website    http://www.goclean.com/.   If you are into "cleaning green" you will like these products.   So if you have ever tried their products or want to try any of the products let us know.
