With only a couple days of August left, I have come to the realization that I need to complete this task.
We went back to ABC on Monday, July 16th to see if we could get standby tickets to see the show The View. We arrived
a little earlier this time...7:15 and were able to obtain #'s 4, 5 & 6. We walked back to the hotel and got ready
to attend the show...in essence, we cleaned up! We knew the drill and returned at the appropriate time. We met
some very interesting people in line. People from CA and some from NJ. The NJ people were extremely interesting
and just a tad odd. There were also 2 ladies from Vegas who filled us in on what maids do to your personal stuff in
your room. Let's just say, never leave your toothbrush out!! Luckily, we were able to attend the taping.
They took 20 standby's and all of the people with tickets. As we entered they searched our purses for mace and pepper
spray. As you would suspect, one of the women from the CA Bay area (not us) had pepper spray. We were allowed
to take our cameras in but we could only take pictures during the breaks.

Sue & Paula at The View |
As we entered the studio, we were given a canvas bag with the words THE VIEW on it plus some cookies and
cranberry juice. All of the seats had excellent views. The guests were Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin and the author
Carl Bernstein. We received sun screen and moisturerizer ($150 value) and the book A Woman In Charge (priceless).
The book is about Hillary Clinton. The hosts, Babara, Joy and Elizabeth are all so personable. The guest
host was Shari Shepard. It was lots of fun and I of course would love to go again.

It took a quite a while to exit the studio because so many people were stopping and having their pictures taken in front
of The View set. Then of course, we had to stand in another line to receive our gifts. I stopped and bought a
sweatshirt and a cap for myself. Julie saw some soap opera stars from a couple different ABC soaps. Couldn't tell
you who they were since I don't watch soaps...anymore. Once in a while, I have been known to take a few minutes
and watch with one of the granddaughters but not to often.
That evening we ate dinner at The Viand, a restaurant right next to The Beacon Hotel where we were staying. When
we were seated at our table, I looked at the pictures on the wall and who should I see with the owner but Barbara Walters.
I guess it was just our day with Barbara.
Paula left for Illinois on Tuesday. I started to not feel to good and by Thursday I was really sick. Paige
performed at the theater on Friday and I watched through the glass doors. If I had started to cough I would have ruined
everything. By the time we got home on Saturday, I really looked like death warmed over. It took a couple weeks
but I recovered. Okay, a little more about New York. We also went to Wall Street, City Hall, saw the Brooklyn
Bridge from a distance, went to ground zero, ate at the Stage Door Deli, rode the Staten Island Ferry, stood on the
spot where George Washington was sworn in as President, went to Rockefeller Center, toured St. Patrick's Cathedral, ate NY
pizza, ate hot dogs at Grey's Papaya (famous NY hot dog place), toured Radio City Music Hall, met a Rockette, ate Belguim
chocolate, walked through Central Park, went to the Russian Tea Room, shopped and just had a great time. Here are some
of my pictures...
