Even though we are not on the road like we use to be, the adventures still continue. We don't need to "drive" to
have adventures in our lives. Each and every day that we get up and are able to move around is a true blessing.
Sue's new adventure is quilting. I finished the quilt for Deborah and am now working on another quilt. Today I
will put the binding on and then send it off to my best friend. It's a surprise! I worked with Julie to make a
beautiful baby quilt for Wade's niece, Meredith who is expecting her first baby next month. We had a ball traveling
from one quilt shop to another to pick out just the right fabrics to make the perfect quilt. You can't just pick up
a bunch of material and put them together...heaven's no, there is a real method to the madness of quilting and I LOVE IT!!!
Thanks Trudie for your encouragment that I could do it. Skip is very supportive and that's a really good thing.
Quilt for Deborah |

This is the quilt I put together for Deborah. Deborah is a Kentucky woman whom we all worked with over the past
20 years. Some of Deborah's friends each created a quilt square and sent them to me to put into a quilt. Each
person put their personal touch to the square. The squares are from top left to right: Kentucky Derby by
Trudie; Rosie The Riveter (Deborah was our Union President) by Sue E; Boston Terriers by Aleta; Ark by Amy; Counted Cross
Stitch ( Like handbags a girl can't have to many friends) by Sue BM; Angel by Denise; House, sun and ocean by Judy; pictures
of all the ladies who made squares circling around Deborah by Sue E; Words of encouragement by Della; Log Cabin by Trudie;
Elvis by Sue E; DAB by Nancy. It was a work of love for a very special person. It was a challenge to me because
all of the squares were different sizes but it came together.
It has been a busy summer and has gone by much to fast. John and Linda have been here for a few months and will
be leaving us in the middle of August to head back home to Florida.
Skip started a recyling program at the lodge and along with his other "asst. caretaker" duties keeps him busy.
He also enjoys playing games on Pogo.com.
Keep checking back here, who knows one of these days we may even travel again. Gas was $3.94 the other day!
