TUMBLEWEED III TRAVELS

November 9th was Chuck's Birthday.  Happy Birthday!!!   RAIN, RAIN, RAIN!!  We have been up in Oregon for several weeks and it has been raining most of that time.  First it was just a normal rain and then we were hit by "The Pineapple Express" (heavy, warm rain).  This weekend it was strong winds and heavy rains.  Luckily for us we haven't seen any of the flooding that other parts of Oregon have.  Our friends, Mel & LaVere left and headed down to Yuma where they say it has been dry and warm...80's & 90"s.  Sounds really good to us right now.  I have been doing a lot of cooking...soups, stews, pies and breads.  We will spend Thanksgiving with Julie and her family at her in-laws, Ken & Bibianne, up by Portland.  Then we will head back home.

In this park, there are a lot of wildlife.  Lucas just goes crazy when he sees the jackrabbits, wild turkey's and deer.  One day he pulled on the leash as I was taking him out the door to go on a walk.  Remembering that Nancy let Dab pull her down a hill and Nancy broke her arm, I let the leash go as he started pulling since I was coming down the steps.  The reason he was in such a hurry was the fact that there were about a dozen turkeys out in the road.  Skip says it was quite a sight to see the dog chasing the turkeys and me trying to get him to come back.  He would stop and look at me and then spot a turkey and take off again.  Finally, I was able to step on his leash and take back control.

One day when I was coming back from the grocery store I saw a cute sight and rushed back to get the camera.  It of course was raining.  I threw the groceries bags at Skip, grabbed the camera and jumped back in the car.  I was headed to a picnic grove a couple blocks away.  There was a deer and her three babies laying under the canopy.  A good mother takes her children out of the rain!!!  It was so cute I couldn't resist taking a picture and sharing it with all of you.
