Happy Birthday....Kennedy,
Oct 6th
Jessica,
Oct 12
Lucas, Oct 27
It finally feels a little like fall here in California.
Went to one of Brett's soccer games on Sunday (10/5) and wore a sweatshirt and a jacket plus I pulled out my Ugh boots!
It was a nice crisp morning...everyone was bundled up with blankets! They didn't win the game but Brett played a hard
game.
Kennedy had her Birthday on Monday. I made her
a quilt using her favorite colors...pink, brown and green. The back is really soft using a fabric called minkie.
The backing fabric made it difficult to quilt by machine so I tied it with a green thread. Here is a picture of the
quilt...the red in the lower corner is a box I didn't move out of the way when I took the picture.

Six days after Kennedy's Birthday comes Jessica's Birthday. I finished
Kennedy''s quilt on 10/6 and started Jessica's quilt on 10/7. On the morning of Jessica's Birthday (10/12) I was
still sewing. I was hand sewing the binding on during the 90 mile drive down to her house. I
didn't finish it until after I gave it to her. The colors she likes are oranges and greens. I backed her quilt
with a bright blue/purple/orange/green sort of tie dyed looking fabric. I used scraps of all the different fabrics in
the quilt to make the binding. Here are 2 pictures...one of the quilt and one of Jessica with her quilt.

Sue's sister-in-law, Rena had surgery for her colon cancer last week. During the surgery the doctor found other
cancer. The surgery went well but she will be receiving radiation on the new cancer. She was in the hospital for
6 days and is home now. Rena is the widow of Sue's brother John who died of cancer this past February.
Lucas has been diagnosed with canine lymphoma. The vet says he has about 30 days to live. We are making the
most out of those 30 days. We have decided not to put him through the chemo treatments. It was one of the hardest
decisions we have ever made.
Tuesday, October 14th...We lost Lucas today. The cancer was very aggressive and he only lasted 8 days after the
diagnosis. We really miss him
10/20/08 Spent Saturday just relaxing and watching movies. Sunday was travel time. We went to Walnut
Creek to watch Brandon in a swim meet. He won the 1,650 meter race...that's a mile race. Next, we left there and
drove about 20 minutes to Orinda where Brett was playing a soccer game. They won the game 3 to 0. That was our
day.
